Some recent topics on studies related to the properties of beryllium as fuel cladding material for CO2 gas-cooled reactor are described, together with developments on methods of working this metal. The paper emphasizes the need for improvements in the transverse ductilty of tubular specimens, which call for further studies from the metallurgical standpoint.
