Abstract

Having international physical mobility as one of the important cores for global education, higher education institutions in Japan and elsewhere have had severe impact on global education due to COVID-19 pandemic happened in early 2020. This paper discusses pedagogy and learning outcomes of on-line global study programs organized during Japanese academic year 2020–2021, with the total of 41 students participated. Content analysis, pre-and post analysis, text mining are the main methods for this study. It was found out that students joined the on-line programs as preparation of actual study abroad in the future and also for the reference for their future career. Throughout the process of on-line global study programs, students realized the necessary competencies to be developed during their university life. Such competencies include multicultural understanding/communication, as well as overall English communication skills.
