Abstract
Methods for measuring the direction and velocity of groundwater flow are classified into single or multi boring methods. In recent years, single boring methods have been used more frequently because they are more economical, facilitate measurement and provide more accurate data. Where actual groundwater flow in a complex way, however, existing single boring methods have difficulty in measuring the three-dimensional flow of groundwater although they can take measurement for horizontal flow.
This paper discusses the method for measuring the direction and velocity of groundwater flow using a CCD camera and prism to economically and accurately identify the three-dimensional groundwater flow in single borehole. In this study, the accuracy of measurement was also verified based on the results of laboratory tests. As a result, it was found that the proposed method enabled the measurement of the direction and velocity of three-dimensional groundwater flow using a CCD camera in single borehole with great accuracy.
