Abstract
This paper is based on the presidential address at the 14th conference of Japan Association on Geographical Space in June 2021. The theme of the address was the valuable aspects of geography in related disciplines based on personal experiences in the field of economics. Specifically, it is argued that the experiences of field work and GIS in geography are valuable assets for geographers. There are increasing opportunities in related disciplines to work with rural communities for revitalization to which the experience of field work can contribute. Similarly, GIS is getting popular in related disciplines as well and geographers have the cutting edge of GIS.
