The present study is to investigate personality tendencies and relationships between 31 children with atopic dermatitis and their mothers, by giving them the Rorschach Test.
The characteristics of the results of the experimantal groups as compared with the control groups are as follows:
1) Patients with atopic dermatitis : The findings suggest that they have tendencies of passivity, and stereotyped behaviors.
2) Patients’ mothers : The findings suggest that those mothers show lack of emotionality, low susceptibility to affections and stereotyped behaviors.
The children with atopic dermatitis and their mothers show similar personality tendencies.
The results of sequence analysis show that the mothers have affection toward their children but have difficulty in expressing it properly. The children also have affection toward their mothers but have difficulty in expressing it properly. This kind of mother-child relationship is different from that of the control groups.
