Ion Exchange Adsorption of Uranyl Complexes of p-Sulfonatocalix [n] aranes (n=6, 8) and Application to the Purification of Uranyl Ion

Abstract

Uranyl complexes of super uranophiles, p-sulfonatocalix [n] arenes, H_nLn^n- (n=6, 8) were strongly adsorbed by macroporous type anion exchange resins over a wide pH range. By using the selective reactivity of H_nLn^n- with UO₂²⁺ and strong adsorption by a macroporous type anion exchange resin, AGMP-1, a new purification method of UO₂²⁺ from other metal ions such as alkali earth, heavy, and rare earth metal ions is developed.
