Abstract

This study identifies the low carbon concept of Betawi house, one of the traditional house in Indonesia Although the house was design based on their ancestors' behavior, but it is unconsciously applied to reduce carbon consumption at this time. The first method of this study is to collect some secondary data about the types of Betawi house, including the history, house plans and used materials. The second method is to observe the Betawi house in Kampung Luar Batang and interview the owners to know about its history, and what Betawi culture they do every day that is related to reduce carbon consumption. The analysis will focus on air circulation and lighting in Betawi house. The air circulation will analyze by Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), while Sefaira application is used to analyze the lighting in the native Betawi house and the transformed house in Kampung Luar Batang The results of this analysis will be connected with low carbon activity, such as minimizing the use of electricity. Therefore, not only the design of Betawi house that supports low carbon concept, but also the occupants who live in there.
