Abstract

Architecture and Fine Arts of Dalian University of Technology and the International Environmental Engineering Department of the University of Kitakyushu jointly organized the 2016 Sino Japanese Design Exchange Camp in September in Dalian University of Technology. This research and design workshop's topic is "The renovation of urban historic buildings with the concept of low carbon". Through the actual investigation and study to analyze the current situation of existing residential buildings in Dalian from different countries and different subjects. Then to explore design methods for low carbon renovation of existing residential areas. In this paper, a design proposal author participated in will be in a detailed introduction. And it will focuse on the method of low carbon renovation in existing residential areas from different functional space which means some unit modules that come from the reconstruction or the construction and have the opening function. And through a series of illustrations, the scheme comparison and the model we express the design ideas and results. Finally, from the participant's personal feelings to discuss the advantages and significance about the work's efficiency, design consensus and international perspective of a design team formed by different cultures, different subjects and different grades' students.
