This paper offers a review of the influence of architectural surface reflectance on building energy consumption, including research methods and research results. These results show that the general research adopts the method of related building physical model is set up, set for quantitative factors such as building models, reflective coatings reflectivity and the outdoor temperature is set to the variable. Through a comparison of the walls in different orientations, the top, south and east walls were found to be better choices for covering with the retro-reflective materials. They monitored the building models, measured indoor air temperatures, globe temperature, thermal stratification and mean radiant temperatures for non-conditioned buildings (free floating case), and obtained a method to choose the reflectivity of the building surface reflective coating. Based on this review, existing research gaps are identified and future research directions in the area of data_x0002_driven building energy consumption prediction are highlighted. The high reflectivity reflective coating can effectively reduce the energy consumption of summer air conditioning, however, improve the energy consumption of winter heating. Therefore, this paper also puts forward some new ideas about the relationship between the reflectivity of building surface and climate
