Abstract
The purpose of this study is to contribute to the reformulation of professional development in late midlife by clarifying the career development attitudes of ex-managers and the effect of organizational re-adaptation on their attitudes. Mixed method research was employed. In Study 1, 11 ex-managers were interviewed and analyzed using the modified grounded theory approach. The results showed that organizational re-adaptation aroused interest in the next career development, and that ex-managers had four career development attitudes. In Study 2, hypotheses are formulated based on the result chart created in Study 1, and a questionnaire survey was conducted. As a result with the covariance structural analysis, it was confirmed that the variable that has the greatest effect on the five career development attitudes is interest in next career development, and it is important of organizational re-adaptation to increase interest in the next career development.
