Research on Independent Life for Elderly with Visual Disabilities

Abstract
In this paper, we proposed solutions for the elderly with visual disabilities to perform independent living problems. It is conducted three surveys, an investigation into the aging of visual impaired, interviews related to anxiety retirement, the acceptance of persons with visual disabilities in nursing homes. To identify detrimental factors, focus group and individual interview research were adopted in a study on 8 persons with disabilities and also questionnaire research was adopted in a study on special elderly nursing homes and pay nursing homes. The investigation revealed that needs and consideration items to receptive for elderly persons with visual disabilities who need light care were extracted as a) equipment of facility, b) community life, c) understanding of visual disabilities. In addition, we proposed four issue and examples of solutions, "corresponding service of facility," "Introduction of technology for community life," "mutual understanding visual disabilities and elderly," "needs for support in a community."
