Abstract

In the post-coronal society, not only face-to-face lectures but also online lectures are expected to be utilized. In this study, the actual conditions of the online lecture attendance environment were shown for Deaf and hard-of-hearing university students and hearing university students. Interviews(11 Deaf and hard-of-hearing students) and questionnaires (156 Deaf and hard-of-hearing students and 59 hearing students) were conducted with university students. As a result, both deaf, hard-of-hearing students and hearing students wanted an environment where they could sit comfortably, where their eyes did not tire quickly, where they could easily see the screen, and where they could adjust the sound and room temperature as needed. Deaf and hard-of-hearing students, on the other hand, placed importance on “a place where it is difficult for other sounds to enter” and “I can see my favorite view beyond my PC (personal computer).” A unique feature of this study is that it focused on the participants of online lectures.
