Abstract
In order to elucidate the provenance of clastics in the Samarka Belt in Far East Russia, we investigated zircon U-Pb ages using the LA-ICP-MS and monazite U-Th-Pb chemical ages by EPMA. Result of dating of detrital zircons in the meta-sandstones from the southern Samarka Belt show almost bimodal in age distribution, 160-300 and 1900 Ma. they are thought to be from the North China Craton. On the other hands, in the northern Samarka Belt, detrital monazite has different pattern, i.e. strong peak at 500Ma, they are thought to be from the Khanka belt or its equivalent.
