Abstract
In the flux system CaO-Na2O-B2O3,-Li2O-V2O5, we have succeeded in growing hexagonal prismatic quartz crystals with pyramidal faces at each end. Even in the experiments at temperatures above 573ºC, hexagonal prismatic quartz crystals have formed, but mostly cracked. Whereas in the flux CaO-Na2O-Li2O-V2O5, crystals like a hexagonal bipyramid, characteristic to high-quartz, have been obtained. In addition, in the flux CaO-MgO-Li2O-V2O5 we have observed quartz crystals in a hexagonal bipyramidal form and tridymite crystals in a hexagonal platy form.
