Compositional fractionation in reproduced I-type cosmic spherules in Fe-Ni-O system

Abstract

Cosmic spherules, the completely melted micrometeorites, representing interplanetary materials from asteroids and comets. In order to reproduce I-type cosmic spherules, we carried out a series of rapid heating and quenching experiments on powders from iron meteorite Canyon Diablo. Typical textures in run products are classified into three groups. The chemical compositions of run products with quantitative analysis of oxygen are ploted on the Fe-Ni-O system and discussed.
