Abstract
The occurrence of deep pressure ulcer limits the utilization of nursing resource and causes unfavorable situation for DPC received hospital. This study focuses on management of pressure ulcer in advanced treating hospital. We compared these two groups: patients with deep pressure ulcer and patients without pressure ulcer of these equal DPC received medical treatment at ‘‘A’’ university hospital in a period from 2007 to 2010. Patients with pressure ulcer stayed in hospital much longer, although their medical revenue significantly fewer. The consumption ratio of medical materials in all medical cost for patients with pressure ulcer were greater. Moreover, the quantity of nursing care burden for patients with pressure ulcer was three times greater. As a result, in the advanced treating hospital, the occurrence of deep pressure ulcer causes wasting medical resources including nursing human resources, and obstructing the effective management in the hospital.
