Abstract

Good results were obtained using sputum specimens and Grocott’s staining of bronchoalveolar lavage specimens using the BD SurePath^TM liquid-based cytology system. The system removed mucus and blood from all the specimens, and staining was carried out with a smear of 13 mm circumference through ionic bonds. Cell abrasion was improved, and good Grocott’s staining was possible.
