Abstract

The use of BD CytoRichTM Red Preservative (CytoRich Red method) in rapid intraoperative cytodiagnosis can prevent cell degeneration and cell detachment. However, the CytoRich Red method needs a longer preparation time than the conventional method. The purpose of this study is to reduce the preparation time of rapid intraoperative cytodiagnosis by comparing the relationship between gravitational sedimentation time and cellularity. We compared each time with the control time. As a result, regardless of the amount of sampling cells, we found that the minimum gravitational sedimentation time with no significant difference in cellularity was 3 minutes and more than 70% of the relative value. To reduce the preparation time, it is important to understand the change in cellularity with gravitational sedimentation time.
