Abstract

The aim of this study was to identify a method and its effects of continuous quality improvement to evaluation of action plan based on client outcomes and costs in a visiting nursing station. The study was carried out during a period between April 1999 and December 2001. We examined client needs and care service in the preliminary study. In the first step for quality improvement, we measured client outcomes by using objective measures, and made on action plan with practitioners. In the second step, we incorporated a cost survey, and made a management action plan with administrations. Aiming at prevention of worsening the client outcomes, we planned to raise a unit fee, to develop marketing and standardized care, to educate staff members, and to improve financial management. As a result of the implementation of the plan, its effects were shown that we could prevent worsening client outcomes, and the unit fee increased to per visit.
