〔Objective〕This study aims to establish and identify definitions for a conceptual analysis of self-monitoring in interpersonal relationships.
〔Method〕Based on the concept analysis method of Rodgers et al. (2000), the antecedents, attributes, consequences, and related concepts in self-monitoring of interpersonal relationships were determined and analyzed.
〔Results〕In an analysis of 30 papers, there were two categories of antecedents: social characteristics and self-internal characteristics; three categories of attributes: observation, situation identification, selection, and control of behavior in the specific situations; two categories for the consequences: behaviors based on an evaluation of the surrounding factors and unnoticed change in oneself.
〔Conclusion〕The concepts identified would be useful as a point of take-off for intentionally monitoring the own situation in interpersonal relationships, possibly utilized as a means to add to experience, become practical knowledge, and improve nursing practice is considered possible.
