Objective:This study evaluated whether a home nursing training guidance support program without any time or space constraints-which is developed by utilizing information and communications technology-would be useful in providing educational support to visiting nurses to address difficulties in their practical training.
Methods:A support program for home nursing practice guidance (hereinafter referred to as the support program)based on social support was created. Then, we conducted a baseline survey and a post-intervention survey on the difficulties experienced by visiting nurses in teaching home nursing practice.
Results:Visiting nurses reported a sense of difficulty in teaching home nursing practice. After the delivery of the support program, the difficulty score significantly decreased for the items of “guiding unmotivated students”'(p=0.019)and “guiding today's young people”' (p=0.035). The support program expanded from 247 recipients to 1,094 users.
Conclusion:The support program may have helped visiting nurses develop positive understandings toward the students and reduce their feelings of difficulty. In the intervention survey, 70% of those wished to continue using the drug. In other words, the need for support programs was suggested.
