Abstract

This report is a summary of the finishing methods for an antimicrobial and deodorant, microbial control and deodorant finished textile products, trends in the development of the market and their future prospects.
1. The three kinds of finishing methods for textiles ; the antimicrobial and deodorant, microbial control and deodorant finishing, have been explained in terms of the trend of these processing technologies given as examples.
2. The main antibacterial test methods were introduced in a test of East Asia (Japan, China, and South Korea) and the international standard ISO 20743.
3. The textile producers from many companies were introduced with the development of the market.
4. The following important matters were pointed out for the future trend.
a) Recent social conditions have seen the arrival of the aged society, where the senior citizen and pivot care senior citizen population has increased rapidly. Thus antimicrobial and deodorant, microbial control and deodorant finished textile products associated with measures to control decubitus and unpleasant odor has become very important.
b) Three issues ; health, comfort and health care, have become the keywords for the development trend of high functional finished textile products recently.
c) It is important for the textile companies in our country to strengthen their policy in terms of the following nine aspects, as well as to positively cooperate with the emerging countries such as China and India while leading the world.
1) Maintain cost competitiveness and quality domination, 2) Correspondence of QR (Quick Response) and maintenance of product development power, 3) Diversification of business and globalization of management, 4) Correspondence to the earth environmental issues, 5) Substantiality and promotion of fundamental research in the textile field, 6) The advancement and innovation of technology in textiles and its related fields, 7) Cooperation with different kinds of industries toward new consumer needs, 8) Promotion of international joint development, 9) Reinforcement of protecting intellectual property rights
