Abstract
Focusing on the basic obligation of companies to protect and promote workers’ health and safety, this symposium delved deeply into the practice and effects of “health and productivity management” in small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from multiple perspectives, including that of top management. Although an increasing number of SMEs are taking steps to ensure workers’ health, viewing them as family members, only a small proportion of SMEs practice health and productivity management. Through this symposium, it was confirmed that the practice of health and productivity management contributes to higher employee satisfaction and improved operational efficiency, and has a positive effect on management. It was pointed out that there are various challenges in implementing health and productivity management in SMEs, such as collaboration with occupational health professionals. It was concluded that it is necessary to develop occupational health professionals and support systems in the future.
