Abstract
This year, the Act on the Promotion of Proper Business Transactions Related
to Specified Undertakings was enacted in the Diet. The purpose of this act is to
promote proper transactions between freelancers and business operators and to
improve the working environment. Although the act has provisions to prevent
harassment, it does not specify any legislative measures to ensure the safety and
health of freelancers. The purpose of this symposium is to discuss ensuring the
safety and health of freelancers while taking into account recent legal policy trends.
