Abstract
A large number of papers have been published on active control of structures subjected to earthquake. Most of these papers, however, are limited to describe various techniques to control the structural response under the assumption that the active control system is perfectly workable without failure. This paper presents a new analytical technique to estimate the fatigue reliability of actively controlled hysteretic structures considering the failure probability of sensors. The proposed method is based on the stochastic equivalent linearization and iterative techniques. A numerical calculation with respect to the structural reliability is shown as a typical example of reliability analysis to the active control system.
