Abstract
In this paper, MICS (Multiphase Incompressible flow solver with Collocated grid System), was applied to the particle movements included in the liquid flow accompanied by large free-surface deformations. MICS is based on the computational method for incompressible flows, in which the treatment for density and mass conservation has been improved in the collocated grid system. The external forces acting on the particles are evaluated from the results of the fluid computations and a numerical model with the distinct element method (DEM). Through the comparison with the experimental results, it was shown that MICS allows us to predict the complicated incompressible gas-liquid-solid multiphase flows.
