Abstract
Flow-induced structure change and instability of CTAB/NaSal aqueous solution in a parallel plates flow cell with a two-dimensional contraction part were investigated. This solution forms worm like micelles and it causes flow-induced structure when both shear rate and strain are higher than a certain value. The solution is transparency but it is changed to opaque by the occurrence of flow-induced structure. The opaque region around the contracting part, which is caused in start-up flow, was visualized. Unstable flow is observed near the wall with high shear rate. When the flow is driven by a constant back pressure, the flow rate increases slowly and it changes to fast flow suddenly at a moment.
