Abstract
Brownian dynamics simulations were carried out for the system of suspension of oblate spheroid particles interacting via the Gay-Berne potential. The aspect ratios of particles considered were 0.2 and 0.3. Phase transition due to the increase in particle concentration and flow behaviors in simple shear flows were simulated. All the systems were isotropic at sufficiently low particle concentration and changed to a nematic phase with increasing the concentration. In the shear flow, the systems exhibited various motions of director depending on the shear flow, e.g. continuous rotations of the director at low shear rates and flow aligning at high shear rates.
