Abstract
The finite cover method (FCM) is presented as a meshfree analysis method for performing nonlinear analysis of heterogeneous media. Due to the concept of finite covers, which construct a fixed grid or a structured mesh, the meshfree nature of the FCM is incorporated with the modeling of discontinuity in strain on material interfaces as well as discontinuity in displacement on external and internal (crack surface) boundaries. Several numerical examples are presented for analyses of elastic-plastic deformation of meso-structures of heterogeneous media.
