Abstract
The velocity field through the axisymmetric sudden expansion is measured using ultrasonic velocity profiler and analyzed by the proper orthogonal decomposition to clarify the relationship between the variation of the reattachment length and the structure of the shear layer and vortex with respect to Reynolds number based on the inlet flow. The variation of the eigenvalue of streamwise and wall -normalvelocity component shows typical change at Re=1000, 1500, 2000. In the turbulent region, the eigenvalue of the streamwise component decreases with Reynolds number in spite of wall-normal one increases at Re>4000.
