Abstract
The failure mechanism of the RC beam is so complicated that the systematic shearing theory has not yet established. The present paper deals with the reappearance of shearing and flexural failure modes on large-scale member of RC beam by using the model beams with the various steel ratios of primary rebar, and the systematization of the general failure mechanism. This experimental study as to the new design concept of RC beam aims to clarify "the shear-flexure critical equilibrium controlling steel ratio," and the relationship between the failure mode and the quantity of primary rebar.
