Abstract
In this study, the Kriging-based genetic algorithm is applied to the aerodynamic design of the high lift device. The Kriging model, one of the response surface models, represents relationship between the objective function (output) and design variables (input) using stochastic process. The kriging model drastically reduces the computational time for the evaluation of objective function in optimization process. Expected improvement (EI) criterion is used for the selection of an additional point. This makes it possible not only to improve the accuracy of the Kriging model but also to explore the global optimum efficiently.
