Abstract
The reinforcement and repairing works for the earthquake-proof concerning the bridge piers have been actively carrying out since the great Hyogoken-Nanbu earthquake. This paper deals with the analysis of steel pipe deformation characteristic and the effectiveness of confined effect by using two kinds of fillers grouted between the concrete cylinder and the steel pipe, that is, epoxy resin and shrinkage compensating mortar. Furthermore, the relationships between the critical thickness of confining steel pipe newly analyzed and the physical properties of concrete are discussed.
