Abstract
The motion of assembly of five point vortices in a plane is considered.Under some assumptions on the strength and initial configuration,the vortices corotate at a uniform angular velocity and form a diamond (four vortices are on the vertices and one is on the center of the diamond).The aim of this paper is to discuss the behavior of unstable corotations.By numerical simulations, some unstable corotations exhibit a relaxation oscillation.By putting the strengths of two vortices to zero,the relaxation oscillation of three vortices is also observed.Some mathematical results on the existence of heteroclinic orbits are shown.
