Abstract
Nonlinear motion is studied concerning to the attitude motion of a double tether satellite on an elliptic orbit. The double tether satellite consists of a mother satellite and two subsatellite connected through tether. The attitude motion is an periodic motion when the eccentricity of the orbit is small and the motion becomes when the eccentricity increases to an certain value resulting chaotic motion under the influence of the effect of the orbit eccentricity. The attitude motion is studied through the method of nonlinear analysis including the Poincare map and the Lyapunov exponent. The relation between the initial conditions and the eccentricity is also studied by analytical method for the system.
