Abstract
The continuous wavelet transform is used to analyze time histories for the purpose of identification of chaotic vibration. The time histories to be examined are from numerical simulation of dynamic response of a non-linear seven DOF full-vehicle model. The study shows that the selection of mother wavelet for the identification is necessary. It is found that the wavelet transform can distinguish chaotic vibration from almost-periodic motion when power spectra analysis fails to do so.
