Abstract
Stability and imperfection sensitivity of a hill-top branching point occurring as a coincidence of a limit point and a double bifurcation point of a finite-dimensional, elastic, conservative system with dihedral-group symmetry are investigated. This hill-top point and bifurcated paths are all shown to be unstable. A piecewise linear law for imperfection sensitivity is presented for practical use.
