Abstract
Urban heat island phenomenon is one of the most important issues of environment in Tokyo. In order to quantitatively evaluate the urban heat island phenomenon, we must improve an accuracy of urban canopy models. However, data to compare with the urban canopy model (especially temperature around buildings) is not enough to verify the model and to develop a new one. Accordingly, we have investigated thermal environment around regularly located buildings, numerically and experimentally. In the present study, we report the space-averaged temperature around regularly located buildings, which is obtained from computational fluid dynamics and the thermal stratification wind tunnel testing.
