Abstract
Pressure sensitive adhesives (PSAs) are indispensable products in various industrial fields. PSAs have rubber elasticity, viscosity, and temperature dependence. Young's modulus of PSAs is notably low compared with other solid materials. Thus extremely large deformation of PSAs can be observed. In recent years, not only experimental studies but computational studies have been required. In the large strain regime, however, a conventional Lagrangian finite element formulation cannot be applied due to the highly distorted finite elements.
In the present study, the large deformation analysis scheme for PSAs is proposed. The scheme is based on an Eulerian finite element method, which allows material to flow through the spatially fixed mesh. The constitutive relation of PSAs is described with visco-hyperelastic model and the WLF equation. To validate the present approach, numerical examples are demonstrated with experimental results.
