Abstract

Objectives: To clarify the effectiveness of psychiatric home-visit nursing based on a nursing-care plan reflecting the philosophy of wellness recovery action plan (WRAP).

Methods: This study used a one-group, pretest-posttest design. We conducted an intervention based on the nursing-care plan reflecting the perspective of WRAP with 15 consumers who received psychiatric home-visit nursing for 6 months from January 2015 to September 2015. We performed measurements with the Japanese version of the following instruments before the intervention and 6 months afterward: Profile of Mood States (POMS), short form; Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale (RSES-J), Rathus Assertiveness Schedule (RAS), and Global Assessment of Function (GAF) scale.

Result: After 6 months, significant improvements included “Tension-Anxiety,” “Depression-Dejection,” “Vigor,” “Fatigue,” and “Confusion” on the POMS; “goal/success orientation and hope,” “personal confidence,” and “willingness to ask for help” on the RAS; and the GAF score.

Conclusion: The nursing-care plan reflecting the perspective of WRAP was an effective way to promote recovery in psychiatric home-visit nursing.
