Abstract

This lecture highlights the diversity and inclusion measures in our global business, introduces why “Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) at INPEX” was built and provides examples of D&I measures in Japan and Australia.

In recent years, INPEX increased the size of the workforce to support the development of the Ichthys LNG Project in Australia and the pre-FEED works of the Abadi LNG Project in Indonesia, these projects eventually led to the overseas workforce outgrowing that of Japan.

We found the specifics of our definition of D&I differs between each global office, we decided to build a consolidated “Diversity & Inclusion at INPEX” to promote a D&I culture throughout the business.

Our business in Japan focuses on the support for females who wish to continue their career, also on the employment of disabled people and non-Japanese employees in Japan. Our Australian subsidiary encourages female promotion for managerial roles and engagement with indigenous people. It also excels in cross-cultural management, it was recently honoured with the Australian Human Resources Institute's Fons Trompenaars Award.
