The industry operation standard was revised in 2012 to comply with upgraded stricter API Standard 53, after Macondo disaster. With that operational management in Operator, Drilling and Service companies changed to take precedence on HSE in comparison to 10 years ago. In this lecture, drilling offshore project in Japan in 2008 and 2016 is compared to discuss how Operator companies shall manage the drilling project.
