Abstract
This paper presents a case study of a large-scale regional development and improvement over a period of 30 years in “Île de Nantes”, a former industrial heritage site in Nantes, in north-west France. First, the structure and processes of land development in France is explained, with the trajectory of the development in Nantes divided into three phases. Then, the system of selecting master urbanists, the system of invariably inviting commercial shops to the ground floor of housing complexes, etc. are explained. Additionally, social housing, which is a characteristic of real estate program, and land development consistent with mobility policies are interpreted. Finally the characteristics of real estate development in «île de Nantes»ʼs project are summarised.
