Abstract
Efforts to reduce CO2 emissions from combustion, which account for 90% of greenhouse gases, will also lead to a reduction in combustion-derived air pollutants, including nitrogen oxides (NOx). Therefore, measures to reduce greenhouse gases from motor vehicles are expected to be effective as a means to reduce motor vehicle exhaust gases, which have long been positioned as a central issue in air pollution control. This study presents estimates of air pollutant emissions from motor vehicles in 2030, taking into account the effects of reducing air pollutant emissions by introducing automobile emission controls and the various national greenhouse gas reduction measures described in the Plan for Global Warming Countermeasures in 2021.
