Interface between Nature and Culture

A case study of a Neurophysiology Laboratory Life in Japan

Abstract

This study examines,(1) how neurophysiologists of nervous visual systems conceive the concept of "nature" in their laboratory lives, (2) their ordinary practice in laboratory as cultural product, and (3) the social construction of the concept of "nature" by their ordinary practice. The ethnographic data were collected by author's fieldwork in a university neurophysiology laboratory in western Japan.
