Chief Coronation Ritual and Myth Re-interpreting Practice in Fiji

Abstract

This presentation focuses on a discussion among elders of clans prior to the chief coronation ritual in Dawasamu district, Fiji in 2010. It analyses how they re-interpreted "the past" / the myth of the district and succeeded to topple down the current political regime among clans by realizing chief coronation ritual, which epitomizes the schema of their "ideologized" myth.
