Abstract
In the VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity) era, the difficulty for implementation of innovation increases, and innovation that involves solving complex social issues and transforming social systems, such as the SDGs, is particularly difficult. However, the "innovation process model" has evolved for implementation of innovation, and co-innovation is expected to be one of the solutions for the difficulty in the VUCA era. Our innovation system should be transformed to adapt to the evolution of the innovation process model. This paper discusses the innovation process and the design of innovation systems for implementation of co-innovation, including a comparison with open innovation and transdisciplinary research.
