Abstract

H5P is a tool that can be used to create interactive teaching materials for use in online education. From the viewpoint of medical simulation education, Interactive Video, Branching Scenario, and Virtual Tour are expected to be especially useful. In this paper, the author examined the possibility of using H5P as a teaching material for medical simulation education. Interactive Video can generate active learning materials by embedding questions and documents in videos and static pages. Branching Scenario can create scenarios in which the story branches depending on the choices. Virtual Tour can produce a virtual reality (VR) space using images from a 360-degree camera. Learners can move around the VR space by themselves, and it is suitable for simulations in early experiences. All of these features are suitable for creating educational materials related to knowledge, and have the advantage of being able to support students' self-learning. On the other hand, they are insufficient for teaching skills and attitudes. It would be desirable to consider hybrid education with face-to-face simulations and VR-based education, rather than completing education using only H5P.
