Abstract
Objective:We aimed to examine the learning effect of the simulation-based education before clinical training in the Adult Nursing Practice. Methods: Students observed 2 cases:1 of acute exacerbation of chronic heart failure and 1 of postoperative conditions of gastric cancer, using a simulator, and they performed reflection according to a checklist. The learning effect was evaluated using a questionnaire immediately after simulation-based education (based mainly on the levels of established knowledge/skills and preparedness for clinical training) and after clinical training (usefulness in terms of clinical training). Results: Among all students, 80% positively evaluated simulation, as it helped them visualize actual clinical training settings, confirm the details of observation/ assessment, and increase their learning motivation before clinical training, whereas 20% answered that there is no learning effect due to the difference between case studies and actual clinical training settings. Discussion: It is necessary to present cases that are applicable in actual clinical training settings, and review the evaluation method.
