The research about production organization in Japanese music business

Abstract

This research reveals that the music production organization in Japanese music business has similar characteristics to "flexible specialization" of the craft production system, which exercised great influence until the advent of the mass production system in the industry, referencing the suggestion about "flexible specialization" argued by Michael J. Piore and Charles F. Sabel. I give full consideration through participant observation and interview and show the importance of human attribute in music production organization in the music business.
